While more and more governments are implementing softer strategies, this policy paper put the emphasis on a variety of not mutually exclusive approaches to countering violent extremism (CVE) and shed light on some push and pull factors arising from the SAHWA Youth Survey and Ethnographic Fieldwork. The author provides a series of policy recommendations which aim at turning the current short-term strategy into a long-term strategy addressing the roots of violent extremism.
