Carlos A. Gasoliba, New Member of the Council of Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe

Gasòliba, the President of CIDOB, has been appointed as member of the Council of Jean Monnet Foundation during the meeting held by the General Assembly of the institution today. 

Later, at 17h, there will be a conference by Péter Balázs, director of the Center for European Union Enlargement Studies at Central European University (Budapest), the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and the former member of the European Commission, under the title of ""Plea for Europe"". Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe is an independent institution that public interest declared by the Swiss authorities and with great international projection. The Foundation was created by Jean Monnet in 1978 and manages an important legacy for and in the interest of all the Europeans. Based in the campus of the University of Lausanne, the Foundation is a meeting place for research, reflection and exchange on European issues. President of the Foundation is Spanish Jose Maria Gil Robles, former president of the European Parliament, and is composed of important figures associated with the European process. 

Carles A. Gasòliba is the President of CIDOB since May 2012. He has a PhD in Economics and Master in industrial economics from the University of Sussex. He is a professor of European integration at UPF and a member of the Royal Academy of Economics and Finance. He had been a deputy in the European Parliament for seventeen years, where he was spokesman of the Liberal Group in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. He is currently President of the Spanish Committee of the European League for Economic Cooperation and of its Mediterranean Commission in Brussels. His areas of expertise are economic and institutional relations of the EU."
