Philip Holzapfel is a Non-resident Senior Fellow at CIDOB (Barcelona Centre for International Affairs). A seasoned MENA expert with nearly three decades of experience, he most recently served as Middle East advisor in the Cabinet of former EU High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.
Previously, he lived and worked in various countries across the MENA region (Israel/Palestine, Egypt, Yemen, Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon) and international capitals (Berlin, Washington, Brussels), following degree courses in European and Middle Eastern studies from London (LSE & King’s College), Paris (Sciences-Po & INALCO), and Bochum (Ruhr-Uni).
