In the framework of the conference series “What's going on in the world?”, and on the occasion of the publication of the books “La democracia en Europa” and “¿Dónde vas, Europa?”, CIDOB organises a session with Daniel Innerarity, Javier Solana and Milagros Pérez Oliva moderated by Pol Morillas on the 31st of January. The speakers will analyse the state of democracy in Europe and its future, as well as the latest events that have taken place in the continent and have tested, not only the values of the EU, but also its very existence. Today, the EU is looking for a new narrative that provides legitimacy and strength and, as Innerarity highlights, stays away from populist simplifications or technocratic justifications.
Daniel Innerarity is Professor of Political and Social Philosophy, “Ikerbasque” research fellow at the University of the Basque Country and director of the Institute of Democratic Governance; Javier Solana is honorary chairman of CIDOB’s board and former EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy; and Milagros Pérez Olivais a journalist at El País. Pol Morillas, senior research fellow in European Affairs at CIDOB, will moderate this session.
