During the session we will discuss the snap elections scheduled for November 1, 2015 the collapse of the peace process with the PKK and Turkey’s interventions in Syria, particularly Turkey has started to bomb Daesh positions as member of the international coalition led by the United States.

Ömer Önhon has been the Turkish ambassador to Spain for a year and was serving as ambassador to Syria when protests began in 2011. Since Turkey closed the embassy in Damascus and until his appointment to the new ambassadorial post in Madrid he was in charge of the Syria file in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The working language will be in English and will be held under Chatham House rule. A welcome coffee will be served at 8:45 am.
