Climate futures: Towards an agreement in Paris?
Paris will host the most decisive climate summit ever on November 30 - December 11, 2015. The international community is called to agree upon a post-2020 climate governance with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C by the end of this century. What kind of agreement can be expected in Paris? How far can China, the United States, the European Union and other big emitters influence the outcome of the Paris summit?

CIDOB and CADS are pleased to invite you to the first ‘Climate Futures’ seminar, which will explore the nature and likelihood of a global climate agreement in Paris.
Six years after the climate negotiations’ failure in Copenhagen, Paris will host the most decisive global climate summit ever on November 30 - December 11, 2015. The international community is called to agree upon a post-2020 climate governance with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C by the end of this century. What kind of agreement can be expected in Paris? How far can China, the United States, the European Union and other big emitters influence the outcome of the Paris summit? Will the international community be able to reconcile a politically feasible policy with an appropriate policy that effectively addresses global warming?
This seminar will be opened by CIDOB Director Jordi Bacaria and moderated by CADS Director Arnau Queralt. It will count on the interventions of experts such as Oriol Costa (Autonomous University of Barcelona), Jeroen van den Bergh (ICTA/ VU University Amsterdam), Iñaki Gili (Catalan Office for Climate Change) and Luigi Carafa (CIDOB).
