After the Crisis, a Push Forward for the Eurozone. Conference by Jean Pisani-Ferry
CIDOB, EuropeG and Cercle d’Economia, all of them institutions committed to the European project, organise this second session on the future of the eurozone.
Performed activity
Cercle d’Economia, Carrer de Provença, 298, 08008 Barcelona
CIDOB, EuropeG and Cercle d’Economia with the support of the Europe for Citizens Programme
As mentioned in this previous session, leaving the crisis behind opens up a new era for the European Union and one of its main tasks is to consolidate the eurozone. This is a complex goal since there is a need to converge towards more fiscal and financial integration while EU citizens are increasingly reclaiming a social agenda. This ambitious process must move forward while the Union is confronting other complex challenges. Sorting out the Brexit negotiations; facing euroscepticism among its citizens; and consolidating the two-speed Europe amidst of the East-West divide are just a few.
Jean Pisani-Ferry has been since January 2017 the Director for Programme and Ideas of Emmanuel Macron’s presidential campaign. Pisani-Ferry served from 2013 to 2017 as Commissioner-General of France Stratégie, the ideas lab of the French government. Prior to this appointment, he was from 2005 to 2013 the Director of Bruegel, the Brussels-based economic think tank that he had contributed to create.
