Before such a complicated situation as the current - which is characterised by political and economic crises that open up for nationalist reactions that are in stark contrast with the necessities and ignore the process of globalisation – a common European visa policy appears as fundamental to the future of European integration. Only a strong and coherent visa policy can efficiently improve the EU’s image in the world, and strengthen its relations with third countries.

This book explores the components that determine a common EU visa policy, with a multidimensional focus, and it offers a clear assessment of the resulting implementation for each of the concerned actors. The final aim of this book is to provide a better understanding of this problem and improve the internal, as well as the external, actions of both the member states and the EU in general.

The book, which is composed of two parts, starts by addressing the general traits of the current visa policy, and continues by analyzing the question using a regional focus. Thus, this study constitutes a useful tool to understand the complexities that surround the mere visa queue.
