The Issues

Iran and its neighbours, Iran and the World

Iran is experiencing a new era after Hassan Rouhani’s victory in the June 2013 Presidential elections. What are President Rouhani's chances of successfully implementing his program of moderate reformism? What are the main challenges that Iran faces at regional and international levels? What are Iran’s main hindrances for the normalization of relations with the US? With its neighbors? Is Iran’s involvement vitally important to tackling the frightening IS threat? What role can Iran play in other issues at stake in the region, such as the balance of power in the Gulf, and the future of Syria and Iraq? To what extent could the European Union aid in stabilizing the region?

Assessing the Iranian Nuclear File

What are the regional implications of a nuclear deal with Iran? What are the key points in the current Iranian nuclear agreement? What are the main obstacles for the full implementation of the nuclear deal? To what extent have Iranian economic difficulties been a key element to reaching an agreement? What does the loss of current international sanctions really mean? How can Iran's regional policy change after a nuclear deal?
