Seminario de expertos sobre la transformación de los escenarios políticos griego y europeo tras la crisis del euro.
El objetivo del seminario es analizar la transformación de las narrativas sobre Europa y Grecia como consecuencia de la crisis griega y las propuestas de reforma que se han presentado tanto en Atenas como en Bruselas. El seminario parte de la premisa que la crisis griega ha dado lugar a la transformación del discurso político sobre Europa de las principales fuerzas políticas en Grecia y el gobierno de Syriza, quien a su vez ha tratado de transformar las políticas y prioridades de la eurozona después de la crisis. Del mismo modo, la Unión Europea tiene una visión diferente de sí misma tras la crisis griega y ha presentado una serie de reformas para reestructurar las bases económicas y financieras de la eurozona y de la Unión en general.

The aim of this session will be to explore the European and foreign policy agenda of the Greek government and the major political forces, as well as Greece’s political and economic demands to its European counterparts. Participants will analyse to what extent the demands of the Greek government have influenced the European policies to deal with the crisis and balanced mainstream pro-austerity policies. They will also address the geopolitical dimension of the crisis and Greece’s closer ties with non-Western powers.

The second session will be aimed at exploring the alliances that the Greek government has put forward with mainstream and new political forces in order to achieve the reform agenda explored in the previous session. Participants will discuss the European foreign policy of the Greek government and other political forces, both under a government-to-government perspective and the relations with European institutions and among European political forces, including new left movements in other Southern European states.

This session will put forward the view from Brussels with the aim to analyse the political and economic reforms that have been discussed at the European level to deal with the Greek crisis and to overcome the structural inefficiencies of the political and economic governance of the Eurozone and the European Union at large. It will review the initiatives of Member States and the policy proposals of European institutions, both from a political perspective to tackle the democratic legitimacy deficit and an economic one aimed at redesigning the foundations of the Eurozone.
