Description

An event was held at the CIDOB Foundation to pay tribute to the ambassador and diplomat Delfí Colomé; among those attending were the Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Ángel Moratinos and the Spanish Ambassador to Andorra, Eugeni Bregolat.

In his address, Minister Moratinos outlined the long diplomatic career of Ambassador Colomé, who in 1976 began working for Spain's Foreign Service, after which he served in Bulgaria, Norway, Mexico and UNESCO. Later on, Delfí Colomé was the ambassador to the Philippines and South Korea. The Minister of Foreign Affairs championed the work of the former ambassador, and declared that he had been a tireless worker in the task of forging relations between Spain and Asia. During his moving speech, the minister also praised Colome's outstanding artistic and human qualities.

Meanwhile, Eugeni Bregolat carried out the presentation of the book El puente de Marco Polo. Mis experiencias al frente de la ASEF (Marco Polo's bridge. My experiences at the head of ASEF), a work that describes Colomé's final professional appointment, as the head of the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF). In this volume, Colomé describes with great precision the gestation and evolution of a project that has become an excellent bridge for dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia. In his presentation, Eugeni Bregolat described Ambassador Colomé as a great expert on Asia, and highlighted not only his professional side, but also his human and artistic qualities, and particularly his knowledge of classical music and dance.

The event, which was attended by family members and numerous personalities and friends of Ambassador Colomé, was presented by the President of the CIDOB Foundation, Narcís Serra.
