Jordi Bacaria: “CIDOB is a European reference on international affairs”

Jordi Bacaria, director of CIDOB, greatly appreciates that “in the 2014 Index CIDOB has improved its results over the previous year and, apart from the general think tank rankings, CIDOB has entered for the first time in the categories that are specifically related to our areas of work, those of international affairs and security”. From his point of view, “the results show that CIDOB’s analysis reach our target audience at the European as well as the international level, the most competitive one. We firmly believe that the public concerned, the media, other think tanks and everyone who has evaluated us in a positive way do value the quality and the independence of our work. This is an achievement that we owe to our team and to the members of the Board that have trusted us. Our challenge is to stick our work to this benchmark and improve it as much as possible”.

The “Global Go To Think Tank” is the only international index established to measure the work and the impact of think tanks and is the result of an open nomination process followed by an experts committee review. More than 3.000 scholars, journalists, decision makers, think tank directors as well as funders from all over the world have participated in this edition. This Index also aims to highlight the important task developed by think tanks and contribute to the creation of a transnational and interdisciplinary network of these centres. Nowadays, Spain holds the 19th position among countries with a larger number of think tanks, 55 in particular, fact that illustrates the dynamism of this organisations regarding the generation of ideas.
