BARCELONA CENTRE FOR INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS - CIDOB FOUNDATION (hereafter CIDOB) informs the users of this webpage of the following terms in order that they may freely and voluntarily decide whether to provide the personal data that may be solicited through the use of the various services we offer, taking into account that this personal data will be strictly necessary for providing the service chosen by the user.

1. - PURPOSE

This website provides information on CIDOB and the services it offers.

CIDOB, holder of Tax ID No. G08824187, has the registered address of C/ Elisabets, 12. 08001 – Barcelona.

CIDOB is entered into the Register of Private Foundations of the Catalan Government with registration number 579.

Membership registration

We will process your data in order to manage the services associated with your status as a member, details of which are set out below.

Your personal data will be kept until you ask to be unsubscribed as a member, and will be kept only for historical records.

Activity sign-up

We will process your data to manage the activity for which you have signed up.

Your personal data will be held for the time required to organize the activity for which you have signed up. After this, it will be deleted except in cases where CIDOB has legal responsibilities.

You provide your data voluntarily at all times. You should therefore ensure the personal data you provide is accurate. In any case, responding to the veracity of the data provided, we reserve the right to exclude from services any user who has provided false data, without prejudice to other actions admissible in law.

In no case will automated decisions be taken based on your data.

Your data will only be processed for the purposes you were informed of and authorized. Your data will not be transferred to third parties without your express authorization.

The legal basis for processing your data is the performance of the services you have expressly authorized and requested.

Data processing by third parties

To ensure the provision of the services provided by CIDOB some data may be processed by third-party entities dedicated to this purpose (mailing companies, quality control surveys, accountancy, etc.). This handling of your data will be performed only and exclusively to guarantee the delivery, security and availability of the CIDOB services CIDOB will be ensured that these entities apply information security measures and best practices.

All our service providers are located within the European Economic Area.

Submitting complaints

The Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.agpd.es) is the supervisory body that ensures compliance with data protection legislation in the Spanish state. If you consider that CIDOB has failed to comply with any of the precepts established in this regulation you may contact them to lodge a complaint.

4. - INFORMATION GATHERING

Only information that is essential to providing the user with a satisfactory service will be collected by electronic means. When the user connects to our webpage we analyze only the type of browser, character set and version you are using with the aim of ensuring the website www.cidob.org displays correctly.

5. - COOKIES AND SPAM

The user can configure their browser to be alerted on-screen of the receipt of cookies and to block their installation on the hard disk. It is not necessary for the user to permit the installation of the cookies sent by CIDOB to browse this webpage.

CIDOB does not use spamming techniques and it will only process the data users provide through the electronic forms on this webpage or by email.

The webpage www.cidob.org in its entirety, including its design, structure, distribution, answers to user enquiries, texts, content, logos, buttons, images, pictures, source code, documentation, as well as all the intellectual and industrial property rights and any other distinctive sign belong to CIDOB or, as the case may be, the people or entities that appear as authors or rights holders.

The reproduction by any means of the content of this website, in whole or in part, for purposes other than users’ legitimate not-for-profit information is prohibited.

The use of frames or any other mechanisms for hiding the origin or source of content is strictly prohibited, as is any use, transformation or exploitation of content for commercial or promotional purposes or those that are against the law, morality or public order, which may harm the interests or damage the image of CIDOB or legitimate third parties, that constitute unfair competition or, in general, are contrary to what is set out in this document. 

7. - ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER, SUBSCRIPTION TO PUBLICATIONS

CIDOB gives users the option to subscribe or unsubscribe, through this website, to a newsletter service through which we will send you information on our news, latest developments, etc.

CIDOB will only send commercial communications if the user requests them and consents to receiving them.

CIDOB also offers users the possibility of subscribing and unsubscribing from any of the publications distributed by CIDOB through this website.

CIDOB will only send these publications at the express request of the user.

8. - CIDOB'S LIABILITY

CIDOB is not liable for any damage or harm resulting from force majeure circumstances such as, for example, errors in communications lines, defects in users' software and hardware, and internet network failures (of connection, on linked pages).

CIDOB does not guarantee the reliability, availability or continuity of this website or of its content in the case of technical issues relating to the security, monitoring or maintenance of the service, failures due to the server that hosts the content or those of other intermediaries or providers, attacks on the computer system, or any other cause resulting from reasons beyond its control, and it therefore refuses any direct or indirect liability for them.

CIDOB reserves the right to change the present Legal Notice for the purpose of adapting it to possible legislative developments, as well as those that may result from existing standard codes on the subject and for strategic or corporate reasons. All of this, without prejudice to seeking the consent of the user when it is required to carry out the necessary processing and as long as this consent is not considered already to have been granted in accordance with the terms of this Legal Notice. 

CIDOB's main objective is to guarantee the privacy and confidentiality of users' personal data, gathered through any system that allows data transmission through completely secure channels. It therefore states its commitment to complying with the legislation that is applicable on this subject at all times.

CIDOB is not liable for the improper use of the contents of its website, with the person who accesses or uses them being solely responsible. Neither does it assume any liability with regard to the information contained on third-party websites that may be accessed through links from the page www.cidob.org.
