The event will mark the end of the 3-year research project Atlantic Future. Our institutions will provide new perspectives on the Atlantic space and on the policy approaches to this region, and will present the new web-based “Atlas of the Atlantic”.
The Atlantic can be considered the cradle of modern globalisation, a space where links between peoples, nations and economies started first to transcend their regional contexts on a large scale. As globalisation enters a new phase and as global challenges such as the economic crises, food security, terrorism, climate change or energy scarcity become more urgent, the states and regions around the Atlantic look at their counterparts across the ocean with renewed interest.
