Researcher on Europe in the world

CIDOB opens a call for a researcher on the Europe in the world programme and in the framework of the H2020 EU-LISTCO project (Europe's External Action and the Dual Challenges of Limited Statehood and Contested Orders). The selected candidate will be in charge of assisting in the research, collecting and analysing data, preparing academic articles and reports, organising seminars, and participating in CIDOB’s other research projects in the European area. The candidate will be integrated into CIDOB’s research team and will collaborate, when necessary, with other researchers. 

Profile

-        Master's degree in European integration / international relations / EU foreign and security policy or similar. It is an added value if the candidate holds a PhD in one of these areas. 

-        Academic publications and participation in international debates and forums on external action instruments and policies of the EU and its member states, particularly in the field of security and defence and with a specific emphasis on the EU neighbourhood. 

-        Five years of experience in the field of research and analysis in these areas of specialization. 

-        Interest in extending the research to other priority areas of CIDOB in the field of European politics. 

-        Analytical skills and ability to work both autonomously and in a team. 

-        Languages: English at proficiency level. Knowledge of Spanish, Catalan and other languages would be an asset.

Responsibilities

-        Provide research support for the Europe in the world programme and in the implementation of the EU-LISTCO H2020 project. 

-        Produce research, scientific articles and reports with political recommendations. 

-        Monitor and analyse EU external action and security and defence developments with a multidisciplinary approach and with a special focus on the instruments and policies of the EU and its member states. 

-        Organize seminars and events 

-        Provide support for the communication and dissemination of the department’s projects. 

-        Provide support for the development of other research projects related to the field of expertise.

Duration of the contract: Three years with the possibility of renewal. The selected candidate must take care of the necessary permits to occupy this position.

Remuneration: € 25,000 - € 30,000 gross depending on experience and merits.

Date of incorporation: Beginning of April 2018.

Researcher on Global Cities

 

CIDOB is opening a call for applications for a researcher on Global Cities. The selected candidate will be in charge of collecting and analysing data, preparing academic articles and policy briefs, and organising seminars and events. The candidate will be integrated into CIDOB’s research team and will collaborate, when necessary, with other researchers.

Profile

-        Master's degree on issues related to cities and/or urban public policy analysis. It is an added value if the candidate has a PhD on urban issues, as well as knowledge of sociology, political science, economics, city planning, governance, and/or international relations.

-        Academic publications and participation in international debates and forums on urban issues. It is an added value if the candidate has work experience with global networks of cities and with local, metropolitan and regional public administrations.

-        Five years of experience in the field of research and analysis of public policy.

-        Experience in the organisation and coordination of seminars and events.

-        Analytical skills and ability to work both autonomously and in a team.

-        Languages: English and Spanish at proficiency level, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Catalan and other languages would be an asset. 

Responsibilities

-        Monitoring and analysing urban policies with an international and comparative approach.

-        Undertaking applied research, preparing scientific articles and policy briefs.

-        Organising seminars and events.

-        Supporting the communication and dissemination of the department’s projects.

-        Supporting the development of research projects.
