At the end of 2013, there were 51.2 million people worldwide displaced from their homes as a result of persecution, conflict or human rights violations; 6 million more than in 2012, according to the UNHCR. Of these, nearly 17% are internationally displaced and, in more than 85% of cases, find themselves in countries under development (Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon and Jordan are the main host countries).
