According to the World Health Organization, one out of three women in the world suffers from gender-based violence. Issue 117 of Revista CIDOB investigates international roots, responses, and patterns of violence against women. International conflict generates both new forms of violence and new forms of international law demanding justice. All forms of violence, including domestic violence, are influenced by patterns of international political economy and corresponding modes of social change –and global organizations respond with new models of public policy and social intervention networks. International migration greatly increases vulnerability to gender violence, and the involvement of intergovernmental organizations and NGOs. Meanwhile, transnational movements and media mobilizations protest and foment culture change in the face of femicide and sexual violence in the home and street alike.
Among others, contributions will be welcomed that offer original empirical and theoretical work on:
a) Gender violence, conflict, and war crimes;
b) Femicide;
c) Public policies and global campaigns;
d) International assistance and social change programs.
Proposals will be accepted in Spanish and English.

The editorial board of the magazine - coordinated for this issue by Alison Brysk - will be responsible for the final selection of the articles to be published in the last issue of 2017 (December 2017).
Created in 1982, Revista CIDOB d’Afers Internacionals is a scientific publication on international relations that publishes original work. Each issue is a monograph, coordinated by an expert, which provides in-depth analysis of an aspect of the international state of affairs from a multi- and trans-disciplinary perspective. The articles pass through an external double-blind peer review process and are indexed and summarised in the main academic social sciences databases, such as Scopus and Thomson Reuters. The publication is aimed at the academic community and the interested public in general. It is published in print and digital versions.
