Will the coronavirus pandemic be a turning point in European integration or just one of many crises in its history?
CIDOB, the SWP and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung celebrate the 12th edition of its annual dialogue to analyse and discuss the challenges that the Covid-19 crisis poses to the cohesion of the European Union. The outburst of the covid-19 in Europe and its economic and social consequences has revealed that the internal divisions within the EU, especially the North-South divide is far from being overcome. Can the solutions proposed by the Commission, including an unprecedented plan for financial assistance to pandemic affected countries bring Europeans closer or soon the old divisions will renew themselves multiplied by the effects of the pandemic? Will the coronavirus pandemic be a turning point in European integration or just one of many crises in its history? Can the Conference on the Future of Europe be an opportunity to give a new impetus to post-Brexit EU, or will it just be a bureaucratic exercise? The 12th CIDOB-SWP-FES Dialogue will shed light on these debates by assembling analysts and think tankers from Spain and Germany.
