Migration processes have become one of the principal motors of the process of social, political and cultural change in our society. The transnational dimension forms part of the nature of migratory movements, and it takes on special importance in the countries of the European Union. Dealing with the issue of immigration demands intense urgent efforts in learning, designing conceptual frameworks and making policy and institutional innovations, which would permit facingthe challenge posed with an integrative vision of the European dimension.
The CIDOB Foundation Migrations Programme has the objective of contributing to the development of debate and research on migration policies, with special emphasis on the construction of a European immigration policy.
The Migrations Programme has established a collaboration agreement with the Diversity and Citizenship Policies Service of the Barcelona Provincial Council, and it participates in different initiatives at the European level.
