Selector de idioma: Castellano Català
In a small area, the Mediterranean concentrates some of the great political, economic, social and even religious tensions on the planet. What happens in this region affects, and to a great extent, the international scene. It is, moreover, an essential priority for the foreign action of Catalonia, Spain and the EU as a whole. This Programme monitors and promotes research on the great challenges facing the Mediterranean countries and the Arab world, devoting special attention to the political and security agendas. That is, what tends to be encapsulated in the first basket of the Barcelona Process.
The Barcelona Process or Euro-Mediterranean Partnership is a focus of interest and research in the Programme, although it is not the only one. Other regional co-operation initiatives and the internal evolution of the Mediterranean partners are essential priorities of this Programme. As a member of the EuroMeSCo network, the areas of work of the Foundation are inspired by those that the network has laid out, that is: democracy and human rights, dynamics of integration, challenges for regional security, citizen security, regional initiatives and multilateralism.
