Documento CIDOB Dinámicas Interculturales; 13
In what ways are cultural and social elements, the cultural space and innovation organised in societies? How can we characterise “culturally sensitive” management, a reflection of the existing multifaceted diversity, and in what terms is the intercultural translated into the professional sphere, into the political and the public space? The texts that make up this publication represent an attempt to create a space for reflection on new approaches to these issues: the intercultural as dynamics, innovation as a tool, the public space as the place for social interaction and the political dimension as an axiomatic element of this reality. Jude Bloomfield carries out an analysis of the management of cultural diversity through the sphere of innovation, based on studies – in different sectors – of creative actors in the intercultural field. Eric Corijn, meanwhile, starting from the premise that the organisation of the world is changing, examines and reflects upon the new geography that is developing: the space of flows in an urban network; in this sense, urbanity is developing as if it were a post-national culture. And finally, Daniel Innerarity analyses the re-composition of public spaces and reflects on the meaning that the idea and practice of proximity could have in them, elements that interweave, in fact, with such diverse issues as representation, identity, the new organisation of the global and the local, immediacy and prospects, communication and participation, as well as the possibilities of territorial mobilisation.
