Núm. 21. Globalización, interregionalismo y auge asiático: La impronta de China e Irán en América Latina

Documentos CIDOB Asia, 21

The two case studies in this publication analyse the objectives and motivations that, in recent years, have led two very different countries – China and Iran, both of which are a long way from Latin America – to develop an active policy toward the region. Both the authors, by way of an explanatory starting point, begin by making reference to the new and old relations of power and order, and the opportunities and challenges with which the post-war system presented these actors. The studies represent innovative contributions to the debate on how the foreign policies of the aforementioned countries could affect regional balances and influence the world system, as well as tackling the question of whether we are facing (in the case of China) new forms of “colonialism”.
