The business activities of people of Chinese, Pakistani, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Bangladeshi and Taiwanese origin in Spain stands out in the history and present-day of the international migration flows that have arrived and settled in the country. The presence of Asians, though dispersed throughout the entire nation, is particularly concentrated in the autonomous communities of Catalonia and Madrid, though the Canary Isles is another of its traditional destinations. The Network of Research on Asian Communities in Spain offers a detailed map of the location of populations and companies of Asian origin in these three autonomous communities.
Through case studies, business trajectories have been reconstructed that reveal the characteristics of a significant business network of small and medium-sized family firms. Adaptability, flexibility and mobility, together with multiple transnational links and the comparative advantages of biculturality that these entrepreneurs of Asian origin possess reveal to us the global citizens that exist in the form of a network, and contribute to the internationalisation of the Spanish economy.
