1983-2006: new times, new views is the metaphor chosen to explain the evolution that the world has undergone over the past twenty-five years, projected in the 100 issues of this journal. Almost a quarter of a century of existence is a propitious moment of parenthesis for reviewing priorities, and in the case of DCIDOB, born in 1983 – when, in the words of the journalist, Xavier Batalla, the world presented an already asymmetrical bipolarity – as a source of information in Catalan specialising in international relations and conceived of as an instrument of dissemination, an occasion for leaving a record of the most profound changes the world has known after the Cold War. Thus, the analyses that are brought together in this monograph present the keys to the principal issues in the current international situation encompassed in visions of the paths of Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean, the former Soviet Union, the emergence of Asia and the principal challenges with the world has begun the 21st century, such as international migrations, interculturality, sustainable development, international security and co-operation for development. Finally, it gives a brief historical review of the journal, as a publishing project in constant transformation and adaptation.
