La imagen de España en Marruecos

The objective of this study, the first of this kind to be done in Morocco, is to contribute to the creation of constructive communication between Morocco and Spain, beginning with an identification of the most pertinent dimensions of the Moroccan view of Spain and the Spaniards. This work has a first part which is theoretical and situates the “Other” in the Moroccan perspective through their memory, imaginary and mass media. It is a shared, individual or collective memory, with happy moments and disasters, which condition attitudes or political influences. The second part deals with the results of surveys carried out on a sample of 1031 people who represent different social classes and all of the regions of Morocco. This part is followed by a set of testimonies from some Moroccan figures, who form part of the surveyed group. This book aims, therefore, to reveal the essential characteristics of the Moroccan view of their neighbours and the cultural, social, economic and political consequences that all of this entails. In this sense, it aims to be an initial contribution to this topic and thus cover the gap that exists in regards to studies of this type. These new works will aid in understanding new realities, many of which are still constructed on the basis of old stereotypes and prejudices.
