This document makes a comparative analysis of the dispositions that the European regulations establish and those contained in the Spanish legislation on family regrouping and the status of citizens of third countries with long-term residence. After an initial description of the European text that has been passed, the author describes the Spanish regulations currently in force in both procedures and presents the degree of compatibility between this legislation and the EU Directives, underscoring the improvements and changes that could be developed in the timeframes established for incorporating them into the Spanish legal system.
