Num. 10. Población y actividades económicas de las comunidades asiáticas en España

Documentos CIDOB Asia; 10

After the studies, Asian Communities in Spain and The Internationalisation of Higher Education. Asian Students in Catalonia, this document completes a line of research promoted by the CIDOB Foundation’s Asian Programme with the idea of overcoming a lack of knowledge about these groups. In this context, this study presents an approach to the population distribution of the main Asian communities in Spain, with special attention to their establishment in the autonomous communities of Catalonia, Madrid and the Canary Islands, and especially to the localisation of their economic activities. Globalisation and transnationalism constitute the backdrop to this research, since the initial hypothesis was the connection between the business activities of the groups established in Spain and those of the ones that are in a diaspora in other parts of the world.

The members of the Research Network on Asian Communities in Spain (RICAE – CIDOB) are: Joaquín Beltrán Antolín, (Autonomous University of Barcelona); Débora BetriseyNadali, (Universidad Complutense de Madrid); Ana María López Sala, (University of La Laguna, Tenerife) and Amelia Sáiz López, (Autonomous University of Barcelona).
