Many people in the world lead intolerably insecure lives. In many cases, insecurity is the consequence of conflicts in which civilians are deliberately targeted with impunity. In an era of global interdependence, Europeans can no longer feel secure when large parts of the world are insecure.

[01.04.2009] The report contains an annual summary of the organisation's activities, including those carried out with respect to the conflict in Georgia. The organisation also commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Representative on Freedom of the Media.

Furthermore, the OSCE has set up a dialogue forum in order to tackle controversial political issues, with the aim of building consensus and resolving differences constructively.
