The basic proposals of this Programme are to contribute to strengthening the capacities of Catalonia and Spain for making contributions to the processes of social and economic development and of democratic consolidation in Latin America and, at the same time, to fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the societies and institutions on both sides of the Atlantic. With this, the Programme seeks to strengthen Barcelona as a pole of reflection focusing on topics of interest to Latin America which link the academic world with public institutions and private agents.

It aims to generate and stimulate research through the production, dissemination and publication of it, as well as to organise stable areas of research and consolidate exchange networks among experts and institutions. We offer a space for exchanging information and opinions in order to engage in in-depth debate on issues of importance, topicality and broad repercussions among the different intellectual, political and economic sectors, both public and private, and to contribute to generating opinion. Finally, the Programme aims to establish an observatory on the actors, processes and important issues in priority areas and offer quality, up-to-date training in the Programme’s areas of work.
