[30.10.09] Europe’s political heads stressed that there is a vital need to clarify the institutional configuration, and they trusted that the ratification process of the Lisbon Treaty would be rapidly completed so that it can come into force by the end of the year. They also established the EU’s position with respect to the Copenhagen Conference on climate change.
[01.07.09] The Swedish government's programme for its half-yearly presidency of the EU, the main priority of which is to tackle the dual challenge of recovering from the acute economic crisis and attempting to solve the consequential rise in unemployment. Another important priority is the continuity of policies aimed at curbing climate change.

The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable and integrated European policy on energy and climate.
