[08.10.08] The report indicates that with a suitable business structure, the rural population could generate skills of economic, social and environmental strength that will lessen the impact of climate change. Furthermore, these efforts will help to provide a necessary stability and represent the first steps towards emerging from poverty.
[15.09.08] The report reveals that following two decades of trade liberalisation, Africa's economies have got rid of most of the barriers that limited the continent's overseas trade. However, not as much progress has been made as was expected, and the results are still quite far off from the increases that have been achieved by other emerging regions.
[24.09.08] IED flows grew by 30% in 2007 and broke the record for the year 2000. However, in light of global deceleration, forecasters expect less investment activity in 2008. The analysis for this year is dedicated to transnational companies and the challenges of infrastructures.
[04.09.2008] The report highlights the fact that in spite of the progress made recently, many of the poorest developing countries continue to depend on foreign capital, not only to achieve their MDGs but also to increase domestic spending with the aim of boosting growth, enabling social spending and the implementation of structural changes.
[01.07.08] The serious instability caused by price increases, inequality and uncertainty on the job market is making the economy an important factor in world security. The poorest countries are suffering more acutely from a lack of security, while optimism is diminishing over emerging economies' capacity for growth.
[06.02.08] Report on the cooperation that has been supplied by the DAC member countries of the OECD, in the form of a qualitative assessment that includes an exhaustive section of statistics. The report also carries out a summary of how cooperation has evolved over the past five years, in order to assess compliance with the established objectives.
[27.11.07] The report assesses the evolution of the degree of development of all the countries, placing a particular emphasis on education, health and income, as well as including other social and economic indicators. It also contains a specific section which this year is dedicated to the impact of climate change on people's development.
[03.04.07] The African economies continue with a good rate of growth in their GDP, 5.7% for 2006. Increased exportations and high international prices for raw materials explain this good performance. Nevertheless, problems still persist, such as the lack of production diversification and deficiencies in infrastructures, transportation and energy.
