CIDOB - [05/18/2009]

Ruling of the selection board for awarding grants to study Master's courses at the LSE

Every year, the Obra Social de Caixa Catalunya and the CIDOB Foundation award two grants for graduates and students with higher qualifications with the aim of promoting Master's studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

The decision for this year's grant awards was made over two stages. A committee made up of lecturers from the LSE pre-selected 7 of the 13 candidates that had previously been accepted onto a Master's programme at the aforementioned University. A selection board organised by CIDOB and the Obra Social de Caixa Catalunya then made the final decision. The board was chaired by Narcís Serra, President of Caixa Catalunya and of the CIDOB Foundation, and was comprised of Carme Riera, Representative of the LSE Alumni Association of Catalonia (ALSEC); Jacint Jordana, Director of the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI); and Jordi Vaquer, Director of the CIDOB Foundation.

The board, which met at the CIDOB Foundation headquarters on 14 May, agreed to award the two LSE Master's study grants to Xavier Servitja i Roca, who will be taking an MSc in International Relations, and Isabel Carreras i Baquer who is to take an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning Studies.
