With contributions from authors such as Manuel Cruz, Enrique Lynch, Pere Portabella and Ricardo Menéndez Salmón, and the participation of the Forum of Young Researchers into Intercultural Dynamics, this book deals with the way in which notions such as identity, imaginaries, representations, memory and narrativity have transformed the practices and contents of contemporary research and creation. This analysis is carried out from an interdisciplinary perspective that features the converging viewpoints of sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, architects, philologists, filmmakers and writers. Their contributions focus on the fracturing between chronological linearity and the idea of progress, the championing of the concrete, intersubjective and dialogic nature of our existence, the importance of the Plausible as against the True, as well as giving a voice to the Other. The uncertainty seems clear: how to seek alternatives to a conservative relativism and to a universalism that is increasingly inappropriate and irresponsible.
