This monographic work contains the addresses given at the 4th Immigration and Europe Seminar. Immigration and Local Government: Experiences and Challenges. Immigration can be considered to be a paradigm for the link that exists between globalisation and the local dimension; in view of this, the fourth of these seminars analysed the jurisdictional and institutional framework of immigration policies in Europe and identified the real challenges that this phenomenon is creating for local governments. The event began with an initial theoretical introduction to the discussion of the local dimension of immigration in Europe and Spain; this was followed by a series of complementary work sessions aimed at studying models of welcoming and coexistence management, and the role that should be played by municipalities and public services.
