At the beginning of the 21st century, Latin America continues to present chilling figures on poverty. The debate on education and poverty is not new, nor is the complexity of their mutual relationship. However, we can state that we are faced with economic policy, social and educational scenarios that currently seem to question a good part of the certainties produced by an academic and political discourse that continues to be based especially on the virtues of education as a mechanism for overcoming poverty, even despite the most recent evidence. The diversity of approaches and topics dealt with, as well as suggestions about new policy needs, contribute to composing a highly attractive work for professionals in the areas of education, social intervention, consulting and research.
