Num. 3. Consecuencias jurídicas de la irregularidad. La inmigración irregular: vías de llegada y condiciones de vida

Documentos CIDOB Migraciones; 3

This document presents two lectures which look at the issue of irregular immigration from different perspectives. In the first article, Eduard Sagarra gives an analysis of the paradoxical situation in which immigration legislation has left an important number of foreigners who live and work in our country in a situation of administrative irregularity. The author wonders if the foreigner who is an irregular immigrant residing in the country, is registered with city hall, and is working and living with a deportation order against him or her is a new legal situation.
On the other hand, and from the perspective that the tasks of an entity like Càritas (Diocesan Charities) provides, Joaquim Sabater reflects on the living conditions of the immigrants that are residing in our country in an irregular situation. Beyond the description of this reality, Sabater reflects on a series of measures that could be of use in solving one of the great concerns of the migratory reality in Spain.

Eduard Sagarra is a Permanent Lecturer in International Public Law at the University of Barcelona and ESADE. He is a solicitor and a founding partner of the Roca Junyent Advocats law firm. Joaquim Sabater is the Secretary-General of Diocesan Charities of Barcelona
