Anuario Internacional CIDOB 2008

The continuity of US hegemony in a world that is increasingly multi-polar, the war against terrorism, the situation in the Near East and the Mediterranean, the evolution of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the process of European integration, the situation in Latin America and the roles of Russia and China are the main issues explored by Xavier Batalla, Deputy Director of Vanguardia Dossier, in his article analysing international relations in 2007. The Yearbook also includes articles that examine issues such as the international economic situation, the EU's evolution and external action, energy security on the old continent, Spain's external relations and the Spanish external economic sector.

The 19th edition of the CIDOB International Yearbook carries out a systematic monitoring of the international panorama and Spain's foreign policy. This year, the traditional section Country Profile is dedicated to Nigeria and its regional setting. Nigeria – the most highly-populated country in Africa, with 140 million inhabitants, and the second largest economic power on the continent – is a key country in West Africa, as well as being an area of growing interest for Spain's foreign policy. The Profile offers a detailed analysis of the African giant’s current situation, as well as the process of West Africa’s regional integration.

The 2008 CIDOB International Yearbook, which includes all the data on Spain’s foreign policy and international relations in 2007, follows on chronologically from the “2006 CIDOB International Yearbook, 2007 edition”. Thus, after the 2006 CIDOB Yearbook (2007 edition) we will be publishing the 2008 CIDOB Yearbook.
