Objectives: To provide participants with a basic knowledge of social, economic and political structures, as well as of the cultures and ideologies of what is one of the most important countries and cultures in the geopolitical area of Asia, in addition to providing sufficient skills in theoretical and empirical analysis to understand the politics of Asian countries, their current problems and their relations within the economic and social context of the region. Detect the key processes that determine the Asian regional space and train professionals who are competent in the field of advising public institutions and private companies with interests in the Asia region.
Content: Colonialism and post-colonialism; nationalism and regionalism; security, conflicts and conflict resolution; demography, migration movements and environmental problems; economic structures; economic and modernisation planning and liberalisation, overseas trade, investment and tourism; cultural anthropology; social and cultural psychology; "Asian values”.
Organisation: this module is organised into master classes coordinated with a dossier of reading material and a system of tutorials.
