Organised by:
CIDOB's Security Programme and the Human Security Study Group, London School of Economics and Political Sciences

23-24 November 2009

Shortly before the commencement of Spain's six-monthly presidency of the EU, the Human Security Study Group, from the London School of Economics, and CIDOB are holding a meeting to explore the implications of President Medvedev's proposal concerning a new European architecture, with the participation of the High Representative for the CFSP, Javier Solana.

The aim of the seminar is to try to find common ground and to identify some of the basic elements for a shared European Security Agenda that would satisfy the concerns of all European actors, as a starting point for a future, more thorough work of reflection. And as Russia has provided the initiative for this new stage of debate on European security, the meeting will be paying maximum attention to experts on the country and to Russia’s points of view, in a dialogue with EU representatives.
