Casa África and the Development Programme of the CIDOB Foundation, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)

The CIDOB Foundation and Casa África, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), are holding the first meeting on the African Development Agenda (ADA).

In a similar way to the successful initiative that has been carried out for Latin America (called the Iber-American Development Agenda), this initiative was designed to promote, by means of academic and political debate, a new African Development Agenda, which goes beyond the traditional approach of cooperation policy and instruments to focus on an analysis of public policy and the private strategies emerging in the continent itself.

This, the first meeting will tackle the processes of regional economic integration in Africa. The event's programme is organised around three main thematic areas; the first will analyse, from a historical perspective up until the present day, the state of the matter by placing particular emphasis on analysing the rationalisation of policy. The second main area will employ an interdisciplinary approach to tackle the contribution of regional integration to African development. Finally, an analysis will be made of how regional agreements are implemented on a national scale.
