The transcendental changes that the European continent is undergoing and the possible shift of the centre of gravity of world affairs to Eurasia constitute the backdrop for this seminar dedicated to the role of Central Asia on the international scene. On this occasion, diplomats and scholars of different origins will come together to give their views on the main actors and dynamics that are operating today in this region and to debate, with special emphasis, two issues of great international importance: that of energy resources and that of transnational threats. The seminar constitutes an opportune event for becoming familiar with the priorities of the 2007 Spanish presidency of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe), a meeting point for the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian community.
