Experts from different academic disciplines discuss the need to provide a solution – from a civil perspective – to the tensions caused by the relationship between religion, laicism and communitarianism in the context of modernisation. From this view, and with the aim of overcoming the dominant stereotypes in political discourses, the organisation of the seminar, Intercultural Citizenship: Political Participation and Muslims, follows the initiative of creating a space for reflection concerning the protagonism that religion has gained in public life today and its impact as a referent in national and international relations.
