The Fundació Caixa Catalunya and the CIDOB Foundation are to hold the 5th awards of two grants for Masters Courses at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The event, which will be presided over by Narcís Serra, President of the CIDOB Foundation and Caixa Catalunya, will also feature the participation of Jaume García, President of the Association of Former LSE Students in Catalonia (ALSEC) and of Andrés Ortega.

Andrés Ortega is the Director General of the Department of Analysis and Research of the Presidency of the Government of Spain. Educated in Spain and the United Kingdom, he began his career as a journalist in London as a correspondent for El País, after which he moved to Brussels, where he covered the negotiations over Spain's entry into the European Community. He was adviser to Francisco Fernández Ordóñez, then Foreign Affairs Minister, during the Spanish Presidency of 1989, before joining the Department of Research of the Presidency, which he headed from 1995 to 1996. He subsequently became an important leader writer and columnist for El País, while since 2004 he has been the Director of Foreign Policy Spanish Edition. He is a well-known author in specialist media and has written four books: El purgatorio de la OTAN (1986), La razón de Europa (1994); Horizontes cercanos: Guía para un mundo en cambio (2000) and La fuerza de los pocos (Spring 2007). In 2002 he was awarded the Madariaga Prize of European Journalism.
